I ( Originally posted by Nandini Karky )

I have been floating in the womb of work and family, these past few months, forgetting to write. The songs of 'I' have woken me from my pregnant silence and this is that newborn's first cry!

I can't say I'm a meticulous music listener. In the past, I've listened to songs that happened to fall on my ears and that was all! My interactions usually stop with the occasional quoting of favorite lines in a song or citing an interesting concept around it. But as I listened to the songs of I, taking my own time, forgetting everything I had on my 'to-do' list and letting myself go, I felt the dots connecting into something magical right before my eyes and all I wanted was to capture this ecstatic experience in words.

Let me see if I can show you what I saw, felt, touched and tasted in this album, one song at a time.

1. Mersalaayitten:  There I was... a 5 year old, jumping into a muddy puddle up and down, up and down, down and up in rhythm with the beats. The sound of the raw words in 'Madras Bashai' (Chennai slang), the sight of an omelette on a dark dosa pan as well as the rainbow colored lungi, the smell of fresh paint on the horns of a bull, the touch of a washerman's bundle of moon... So very earthy! The whole song was like clutching a handful of Marina sand and joyfully scattering it in the wind.

2. Ennodu Nee Irunthal: Wings sprouting and next minute, up there, touching the sky. Every note rises higher and higher, taking you through all the layers up above. The words help you to fit that unfathomable music just like how you fit those cloud shapes into that of a coconut, a crocodile and all that catches your fancy, in an attempt to make sense of the vast and all encompassing sky and the feeling of just needing nothing but one person in life. Now and then, catching a glimpse of the splash of colors in the horizon. Towards the end, there is a distant rumble of thunder and a feeling of getting drenched in the purest of rains, at the moment of their birth. The song ends with the words 'Ennodu Nee Illa Ulagathil Naan Vaazha Maatene' (I will not live in a world that doesn't have you with me)... and to me, it seemed like a word-perfect metaphor for an impossibility of life in this world without the sky.

3. Ladio: A blazing fire, dancing lights and sizzling heat. How better to describe a dazzling lady! Hard to see the substance when something shines so brilliantly with so much beauty on the outside. It may look like an exciting display of fireworks but it isn't just that. Look close and you will see the warmth of a campfire on a cold night in those mellifluous pure Tamil words glowing amidst the embers. Think of the fire of life, the fire in eyes that love, the fire of a heart that wants to create and you will see beyond the razzle-dazzle of her outer musical beauty, that this is a girl who will set not just hearts but minds too, on fire.

4. Pookale: A breeze... a beautiful breeze that plays with the locks of your hair in a fragrant garden; A gushing wind on a terrace that surrounds to cool you when you are burning within. 'Aval Vanthuvittal' (She is here) like the breath of a loved one! The very breath of beauty. Oh, and how she does toss and turn you around, surprising you with her touch and her fragrance.  The beauty of beauties! Like the beautiful breath of a newborn baby and the last breath of a dying man. Poetic! As this song vibrates within, it makes you wonder if you are human or the most perfect wind instrument ever invented. When the song talks about the man, it feels like a morning breeze that wakes up the world and when about the woman, it feels like the evening breeze that soothes the world to sleep. A song that truly does 'give a life, anew' ('maru uyir thanthal').

5. Ayla: By now, you must have got the 'drift'. This one is a glacial stream travelling at a racy speed, at times a leaping waterfall, at times, a cute little pond and at a turn, a deep lake and in all its forms, meandering away to be an ocean. A song of surprises. At times, you hear a pristine Swiss lake as the opera notes soar and at others, a jolly pond of 'Dandanaka' drum beats, coexisting delightfully together. The stream does wash you and makes you say 'Menmai Seythai' (You rendered me soft). Twinkling with 'Siri thuli', this is indeed, an ocean of 'smile drops'.

In my eyes, I's songs are beautifully complex and complexly beautiful as those other things forged of the five elements... This world and You and I!

Enakkul Oruvan Teaser

It's a double delight for all Siddharth fans or a tl least for me because the type of movie that I wanted from him is finally came true. First of all thanks to Siddharth for making a come back to Tamil.

With Enakkul oruvan teaser release on last Monday evening, the actor's new psychological thriller in which he appear in double role - as a theatre hall torch shine and a movie superstar. This is a remake of kannada blockbuster movie Lucia, Enakkul Oruvan is about an insomniac. And yet again, Siddharth has sung his 15th song 'Prabalamagavey', which incidentally is the background score playing through the teaser. Needless to say, it's a chic and contemporary in style.

Tamil Movie Review : Irumbhu Kuthirai

With an excellent actor like Atharvaa Murali and two gorgeous girls and a fierce villain with a big budget and a strong brilliant technical team, Mr. Yuvaraj Bose came up with this disaster called Irumbhu Kuthirai. It's one of those films where everything going on right track until the director planned to screw it all up. The story moves in all predictably, except for the last 20 minutes, which is a like you winning a consolation prize after squirming for an hour and half in your seats.

Having a cute Priya, hot Lakshmi Rai, funny Jeganji, and emotional Devadarshini, one can easily realize the height of the film could have gone to. But this is a BIG CRY! And the music of this film on visual, non is wachable. Anything else that have worked well in this Iron Horse? Yes. The awesome technical team. A big thanks to them. Cinematography by RB Gurudhev is stunning with the hollywoodish color and bright visuals. Gopi Amarnath was roped in for the action sequences, and he too has done a complete justice.

Credits to the editor for trimming down the film to a crispy 2 hours. Film like this totally disappoints a filmi lover like many of us. People comes to the theatre just not to see the 6 pack abs, colorful song and some wrooming bike scenes. They go into the dark room to forget the outside world for a few hours and get ENTERTAINED! But Irumbhu Kuthurai no where near to that.

Certainly Not

Running.. Running... and running as if like there is a fire at the back of me.

Life been chasing me past these few years. I always wonder why can't I stand up for myself and fulfill my dreams? And then once my friend said only rich and poor can achieve their dream and not a middle class as us.. We grab what we get and stuck with it.

Wait... Is she indirectly telling me that I can't achieve my dreams first step even? No.. No... No... That can't be! Aaaaaah!!!! I almost reached my dreams final stage but something came in between me and my dream and didn't let me to pursue it.

And most of the time I curse myself for not choosing the right path at the early days and left few good things
in half a way. Well just like other super students, I too choose Additional Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and biology as my majors in 10th grade. And to complete this tag, I took up Computer Science.

Basically I am very much into religious following. So overachieving becomes my second nature. I enrolled myself into all the possible things that I could and strived to be at the best of it.

And still I am running.. And I am tired!!!!! :(

But still what is happening?

I am running a race against time. A race with a bunch of peoples who all are wanted the same thing. All I wanted to know is, how does one make decisions about life? Do they have something like Plan A, Plan B, or etc?? Why it is always easier for other to make a decision on us, but not we? There are so many constants and varibles that defines and mold what we do and what we want to do?

Help YOURSELF!

Be Still & Silent

I still remember of being bullied terribly in school. Maybe during my 5th or 6th grade. There was a constant fear for me. At that point of time finds a list of worst in my personal history. have you been discriminated against vs-vs? If yes, how did you overcome it? If you were bullied in school, did you ever come across the bully later and if yes, how did you deal with it?

And finally, are children by nature selfless or selfish? Are the concepts of empathy inborn or taught in some children? Why do some children seen kinder than others.

A friend said, be still. Be silent. Maybe we can be glad that we didn't sully our thought and our tongue by saying things we didn't mean. To not react to dishonestly that plays out right in front of us. To not to react to unkindness or any sort of a situation that we may deem unpleasant. Easier said than done, to not to react to an accusation. I can say that and still react the next moment if something irritates me.

But for now, may be the answer is in being still. Being silent.

Familiar Strangers

Well who are these familiar strangers in our lives? Hmm... Sometimes ago, they was our best friend or at least a friend. But now, why strangers? Well some peoples used to say, Hey!! I was Rubini's friend once. But not now.. Well this concept is certainly very easy. Either I must have done something wrong to them or they to me. All we need is some understanding. And to be honest, I'm not really an out-spoken person. I need to know about you well, so the I can share my certain matter with you without any hesitations. But after everything is done, all kind of backstabbing and shitty talks, is it easy to forget and forgive? We can forgive, but is forget can really happen that easily? When we get hurt with lots of words, directly and indirectly? Anyone can forgive, but no one can forget!

Even the god forgives you, for the mistakes you have done, but he don't forget. And that's why they have Chitragupthan over there with the noble Yama Dharma Raja, to list down all our mistakes.

The supreme god, Lord Vishnu, he forgives, but won't forget. Jesus, father of the universe he forgives but won't forget.. Allah swt forgives but never forget.. That's why Heaven and Hell still exist..

Forget is not an easy task actually!!

Tamil Movie Review : Velai Illa Pattadhari

Velai Illa Pattadhari the 25th film for Dhanush and it comes from his own production house Wunderbar Films, had a huge expectations from the audience as in these recent years he didn't give much hit like before. This flick is directed by Velraj and it has both Anirudh Ravichander and MV Rajesh Kumar's music. The trailer and the audio have successfully generated positives vibes around VIP and it's clearly evident with the movie getting wonderful response from it's advance bookings.

The film is reportedly "A message to youths with some comedy on rising unemployed and the growing frustration for job with love". Dhanush as Raghuvaran plays the central character, as a civil engineer graduate who is still looking out for a job, while his younger brother who is in IT field already working and earning well. This rises a comparison issue at his home where Samuthrakani keeps insulting Dhanush for being unemployed. Dhanush is a type of person who wants a job in the same field as he studied for. Saranya played a role as his mother, who console him and try to boost his confidence.  And there comes the introduction of the lead lady Amala Paul as his childhood best friend, who is in love with him. This will be the first release for Amala Paul after her post-marriage with Vijay.

In a bid to make it a successful commercial film, the team has taken too much of liberties. In the process, the story becomes predictive  in the second half.

Overall it has a fantastic performance by Dhanush, Indeed it is a tailor-made role for him. Amala Pauls fits well as Shalini. Samuthrakani, Saranya, Vivek and the cute Hrishikesh have done a complete justice to their roles. And Anirudh shines again with his background scores.

There was not much scope for cinematography and editing done by Rajesh was okay.

What to name it?

Okay!! Let's break this silence now. It's been about 2 months since my last post. I myself was thinking in what I'm tied up with. Well absolutely not with any major work.. But with loads and loads of movies and dance , oh yeah and work too. They are just too hectic. Tired of managing everything by myself. And lil tuition classes for my nephew and niece. And thanks to them. Because all their havoc made me to forget even my basic maths. pheww..And movies totally saved me. 2 States, Hasee Tho Phasee, Queen, Manam and yesterday night watched Autonagar Surya. You guys might be thinking what's up with this girl and why she suddenly jumped into bollywood films. Well just simple. Tired of watching Tamil films. My last film was Yennamo Yedho which was actually a remake of Ala Modalaindi. And the reason I watched it wat coz of Gautham. Kochadaiiyaan is different. You know the language or not, but you have to watch it. And it's MUST!! As it was Rajini's movie. :D *proud Thalaivar fan me* And for tonight I'm planning to Arima Nambhi. With all by myself. For sure!! :) And the happy things around me was the wedding of Chinmayi and Rahul. Awwww :)) Finally she did it men.. haa haa.. I still can't stop myself from going through by their wedding pictures. They are just too adorable.. Okay, now stop putting your evil eyes on my akka and athimbel.. hee hee ^_^ And did I say anything about my new hero crush?? haha.. Well it's Arjun Kapoor. So weird na??? Can't help it. Because he is just so like himself. And I love these kind of real peoples. And finally I havejoined in Instagram. Do follow me over there you lovely peoples.. rubinishetty is my username.. :) xoxo

Mini Review : Yennamo Yedho

Gautham in Yennamo Yedho

Directed by a debutant director Ravi Thyagarajan was the most successful Telugu Film Ala Modalaindi. When a widely successful film is remade in other language it's really hard to refrain the comparison assignment. Let's don't talk about the story. We will go for the cast performance.

When we compared Nithya and Rakul Preet to the character, none can forget Nithya. She's still so fresh even now you watched the original. But Rakul's actions and the chemistry workout between she and Gautham was so unnatural. And they are absolutely not the pair who creates magic like Nani and Nithya did in Ala Modalaindi. They could have choosen a better heroine for this character. While Gautham had done his full justice on the second half. Yes man!!! He improved and he really improved. Gautham has done the role as himself. He didn't try to imitate Nani in any scene for my view. Even once he had said "I did that character as myself GAUTHAM. That's how Gautham will react if he was in that situation." And Anupama Kumar done the mother role for Gautham which was originally done by Rohini. And she did so brilliantly and that was an endearing performance. And coming to Prabhu sir's character, well he is a versatile actor . He can carry out any character very brilliantly. And he was amazing!

Is anyone

excited as me now?? well coming back to this fan girl thing, I myself don't know that I would have jump to him from being another hero's fan girl. Aaah.. Some magic must have changed me. lol. Well in another 48 hours Yennamo Yedho gonna release with another 3 movies.. And all I want now is, we Gautham fans seriously wants this movie to do well in boxoffice. Okay the reasons I want it to be a HIT is , first of all Gautham in it. And secondly it's an hit telugu movie Ala Modalaindi's remake. This story actually have a big history behind the makings of Ala Modalindi.. Well will bring some to old live now. And before that. Now this movie is on progress in remaking it in Kannada too.. So just imagine it.. Okay coming to the OLD Live now, which were personally said by the awesome director Nandini Reddy, a few years back..

The Development Process

  • It started with the idea of two people (belonging to opposite sex) meeting in a crisis situation. It will be more interesting than a boy meeting a girl in a regular way. I was in Chennai at that time and discussing with Anjana Ali Khan (director of Tamil film Veppam). The basic seed of the story came out of that conversation. I gave a 10-minute narration to Nani and he said that its awesome. We wanted to title the movie as 'Prema Thokka Tholu'. I am basically a lazy writer. Hence, Anjana threatened me by putting a deadline of 10 days to complete the script. I wanted the scenes, characters and characterisations come out of the experiences from my life and the from the people I have observed. To stay in that zone/space, I repeatedly watched Friends, When Harry Met Sally and A Lot Like Love during that period. I wrote a 60-scenes order on a pair of yellow papers. I write very little on paper for a scene (a couple of lines for a scene as most of the content is there in my head). I don’t want to slow down my mind while writing as our mind works faster than our hand

Choosing The Cast

*as told by the Original Director Nandini Reddy*

  • John Abraham – Asish Vidyardhi I wanted to take the film to next level and I felt that I needed one more layer. I watched a film titled 'In July' in my initial days. In that film a guy is carrying a dead body to cross the border. Another guy takes a lift, but notices the dead body. The entire film is about misrepresentation. I took that movie as reference and created a character called 'John Abraham' who is a professional kidnapper. I wanted to derive humor by showing the human angle in him. I have also used John Abraham character to ask the questions to Nani on the behalf of audiences
  • I liked the layer of Johan Abraham character, but the entire team is not convinced about it. That idea was put in cold-storage. After the 3rd schedule of the film, a friend and a co-director Srinivas came to the sets. I narrated him the John Abraham thread. Srinivas loved it and convinced the producer by talking to him. Since it involves casting a notable actor, it is a big decision to the producer. Asish Vidyardhi was my original preference. But tried Prakash Raj as I personally know him. Prakash Raj loved the character but said that he is playing a similar character in Orange movie. Then I spoke to Asish Vidyardhi and narrated the script. He loved it and quoted his price. It was unaffordable to the producer. After a few days, Asish Vidyardhi called us again and lowered him remuneration.
  • Scrat – Ramesh I used to love the scrat character in Ice Age movie. Scrat character has nothing to do with the story of Ice Age, but creates chaos. I wanted to create such a character for my movie. Producer Damu suggested that we should have a guy hit with recession. Writer Bhupal said that we should have a drunken character. It was Bhupal who suggested Ramesh for that character. Ramesh worked for Mahatma and Bheemili in the past, but didn’t get any recognition. He is a simple and hardworking boy. His work in Ala Modalaindi is being appreciated well.
  • Shooting of the climax was very difficult as we have many character, links and threads. Writer Anil Ravipudi provided great help in climax. Introduction of Sneha Ullal’s character Anjana pointed out that Nani’s character is always rejected by all the girls. He should reject a girl by choice (not by destiny). That’s how we created the character of Sneha Ullal.

And for me this was the only movie that gained 4.5 star reviews with over night.

Now from Ala Modalaindi coming back to Yennamo Yedho, we will have Gautham Karthik in lead role as Gautham while Rakul Preet as the heroine playing the role done by Nithya Menen. And this will be her debut movie in Tamil.. While Nikesha Patel's character I'm not so sure of it whether she's doing the characters done by Sneha Ullal or Kriti Kharbanda. And more over we wll be having Prabu sir in a major role which was originally done by Ashish Vidhyarthi sir in telugu. This character is one of the most favouritest one for me. In this movie you can expect for sentiments, love, family bonding, mother-son love, humours and comedy as well.

So amigos get your tickets for yennamo Yedho which is all set to release this friday 25th April. Thank u :)

Every now & Then.... He abandons me

I want more.. I'm not satisfied. Give me a bigger share.. Don't you think I deserve more? When I offer you my fruit, you accept it. Don't you know anything about the giving back theory?! He answered a "NO".. A very plain and simple NO. And he doesn't even try to explain me why! Well I guess he only knew about GIVING but not GIVING-BACK. Because his thoughts are selfless. And he never declined my offer. Because it's my duty to serve him. And moreover he didn't demand anything. I was always free. He never held me back. It was Me, who never choose to leave. Now he abandons me.. It doesn't mean that he will never come back. He could just be a little late. Whatever it is.. I wait here. Under the same shade of his love and trust. And I never choose to LEAVE!

Allooo..

Pheewwww.. After a few months of hectic I'm back guys. Well you guys know what happened, I lost my password for ankithascinema website!! I'm quite brilliant right?? Well then, not a big matter. Still you guys can subscribe for my reviews at here and this year I started my review blogging with Nimirnthu Nil, where my two favourite peoples pair up in this movie.. :) Oh yeah, I and my Purni have launched our own music and dance group called the Heldegard. Can find us in facebook and twitter as well. And song compositions are really going on well. I'm suppose to be there with them now, but hooked up with some personal matter, so couldn't make it. And soon we will upload our dance video on youtube, oh wait.. I know.. Sure will let you guys know the links okay. And the dance is coming up with three different style. Bharathanatyam, Contemporary and Kutthu dance. Till then stay bless and I love each and every one of you peoples out there. And lets put all our prayers together for the missing jet MH370 :) Aummmmmmm !!

Mini Review : Nimirnthu Nil

To digest truth it's really something really hard. The whole storyline and details stays in this fact. Nimirnthu Nil is the apt title that tells the actual fact and culture of working of the the government employees in the country. The first half is very very racy plot that even not let the audience to blink their eyes for even a second. Good touch in the performance. Where else the second half was quite draggy with some unnecessary actions and songs which they could have possibly censor to make it look more good. And it was actually missing the good rapport from the first half.

Overall Nimirnthu Nil comes strong in message to the society with it's dynamic dialogues. And coming to the finish line it will engaged you for a worth watch.

Mini Review : Ram-Leela

Well I just don't know what Ram-Leela have to do with Shakespears' Romeo & Juliet. Some people just keep on complaining that they should go back to high school and study literature back. Guess it's too much. And after all I can't say love is not the perfect word to match for this film. But I will definitely give lots of LOVE to Deepika's raw performance. The end scene actually signifies that Deepika Padukone's grand rise of the year. She just keep on proving that she's not only a pretty face actress but also super talented and something more than a boxoffice queen. Ranveer Singh shines in the moments right after the interval however pre-interval was was annoying. And in major scenes I think he over react. He needs to master the art of tuning down the energy before everything goes wrong with him. After all Bhanshali's music is rich as his is films visual appeal. But sadly he didn't realise that sometimes a song is burdensome on the screenplay. Ishqyaun Dhishqyaun was completely an unwanted song for this movie. It just bring us back to Salman or Govinda's 90's movies. Dialogues penned by Siddharth and Garima at times worked and at times seem to be forced. Over all I expected Goliyon Ki Raasleela- RamLeela to be an extraordinary film of the year, but unfortunately it's just an ordinary film after all.

The Best of Indian Cinema in 2013

As the year coming to an end, it's time to talk about the best.. Well there is one blog of my friends' one who talks about worst. So here I will write about the best of Best. Maybe sometimes you will feel some of the best as worst.. But this best is my best. Which I categorized as the BEST in 2013.

Best Comeback

Well her comeback was the best one for me and I guess also for all. All other heroines need to learn lots and lots of things and values from her. Right after Sri Rama Rajyam, she announced that she will retire from cinema and happily settle in the marriage life with Choreographer/Actor/Director Prabhu Deva. But fortunately or unfortunately something goes wrong in that, and well that's her personal so we shouldn't discuss about it. This year she made with two smashing big hits. One with Ultimatestar Ajith Kumar in Arrambam and another with the dude Arya in Raja Rani. Both these movies made her as a leading actress back in Tamil. And I'll surely say this is the best of Nayanthara's year. And I dare say no one can be like her. Thank you Nayan for keep on inspiring us.

Best Item Song

This is now getting better and better than ever. Right after my own Kannadiga girls like Aishwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty, Deepika Padukone now it's Ragini Dwivedi's time to rock in the bollywood. This baby girl just took a step into bolly cinema with an item song Kaddu Katega from R..Rajkumar. But soon she will be a leading lady there. Those who don't know her talent, watch her Kannada movies like Kempegowda and other few movies. Now she have given an entry into Tamil too with Jayam Ravi in Nimirndhu Nil. Way to go Ragz..

Best Album of the Year

This year after the entry of the little dude Anirudh, music is getting to better place I think. Anirudh was introduced by Dhanush in his movie 3. Since then on, this fellow has tied all of us with his cute cute and hot hot music. In 2012 he has given two big hits. 3 and Ethirneechal. And this year it's Vanakam Chennai. You still don't know him, listen to Why this kolaveri di and Chicken Dance :)

Best Supporting Role/Guest Appearance

This two guest role peoples are personally my favourite twos'.. Rahul Ravindran in Vanakam Chennai after the second half was an awesome intro actually. And I think personally he have took many girls heart. But not mine. He is my favourite girl's favourite man now.. :) And Rana Daggubati's few minutes guest role made me to cry. THank for doing that to me Rana. Well for the Tamilians who don't know about Rana, he's a leading hero in telugu and he have done a  hindi movie too. Check out the movie called Department. And Rana please do more Tamil movies.

Best Actor

Dhanush in Mariyaan was flawless. Currently he is enjoying the success hit of Mariyaan and his hindi movie Raanjhana. And there was another news for all Dhanush fans that he already signed his second hindi movie opposite Akshara Haasan and Amitabh Bhachchan. Dhanush has created his own identity since Addukalam, for which he won the National Award actually. And he truly deserve it. And my second best actor is our King Khan. This year with his blockbuster express, Chennai Express, he was too cute. Yes his reactions and the dance movements and all. Whenever he says Meenamma, hahaha. He sounds too funny actually. Remember the scene where Deepika will kick him off from her bed. OMG. He's just the best King Khan ever.

Best Actress

This year with Yeh jawaani Hai Diwaani, Chennai Express, Race 2 and finally the year end movie Ram Leela, Deepika took my heart away from me. In this recent years no one have made me awwwe with such performance. But Deepika as Meenamma, Naina, Leela, and Elena, is flawless. Omg god. I can't wait to see her as Vadhana Devi opposite Super Star Rajinikanth in Kochadaiyaan on April 10th. oppps.. I revealed the secret I guess.. haha.. She was flawless.. Totally. She rules the cinema world now. More to come on your way girl.

Mariyaan means immortal and Director Bharath has shown two immortal things in this movie. One is Mariyaan and another is his love. Marc Koninckx's visuals are poetic and out of this world as he has fully exploited the wide visual canvas that Bharath Bala has offered him. AR.Rahman has used the tunes of magical in Yenge Pona Raasa and Kadal Raasa Naan, prominently as part of the movie's background score and this will resonate in your heart. His songs for the movie need no further mention but their visual treatments is mostly similar due to the repetitive situations and its surrounding.
